Since opening its doors in 1910, Assumption School has celebrated over 100 years of academic excellence, educating the whole child spiritually, academically, and socially. These are just a few of our many attributes:

Individualized Attention

Our small class sizes allow our teachers to give each student one-on-one attention. Children are taught in a disciplined environment and our low student-teacher ratio makes it easier to enforce our codes of conduct.

Sense of Community

We offer one class per grade and students often spend their education with the same group of children from preschool through eighth grade. Bonded by shared experiences and values, graduates leave with lifelong friendships.

Parental Involvement

We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and the school. Our teachers utilize technology to facilitate open communication with parents which includes sharing homework assignments, grades, and class news. Each week our principal communicates a memo to all parents detailing the week’s important notes and events. We also offer a variety of volunteerism opportunities and encourage all families to get involved. We encourage parental involvement and believe it has positive effects on student achievement.

We have very low turnover of our faculty and staff. All our teachers participate in ongoing educational and developmental programs and our committed to maximizing their students’ success. 

Progressive & Comprehensive Academics

We are fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. We follow the curriculum standards published by the Office of Education, Evangelization and Catechesis which prepare young people for college, career, and life. All curriculum documents are in alignment with national standards and often exceed Common Core State standards.Our small class sizes allow teachers to recognize and address any learning struggles a student may encounter. We offer a variety of educational methods and approaches to suit the learning styles of our students.

Technology

Assumption School integrates technology in all areas of curriculum to create a 21st century learning environment. Smartboards and internet access are available in every classroom. Google Classroom is implemented in grades four through eight. We have a networked computer lab and Chromebooks and iPads are utilized as educational tools.

Religious Teaching

Students live the school motto, “Enter to learn – go forth to serve.” The school community emphasizes the identity of the school through Catholic values and ethics. We provide a safe, nurturing, and secure environment for students to learn, develop, and practice the skills they need for success.

Balanced Program

Assumption strives to create a balance of academics, sports, and extracurricular activities. We offer a variety of programs to reach the interests of your child, whether it be writing for the school newspaper, playing on the basketball court, swimming at the local YMCA, or singing in the school musical.

Before and After School Care

Our ACCENT program is available on-site for any families in need of childcare before or after school and is offered at a low hourly rate. We also offer a Homework Helpers program, a teacher-led opportunity for children to receive after school assistance on their daily homework assignments.
