Grade 2 students observe their Petri dishes. Last week they learned how to swab an item to see if there is bacteria present. Today they realized not everything is as clean as we think. They also noted that bread and fresh fruit spoil easily. Ewww, gross 🤢

Students were treated to a special visit from the Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo Zoomobile! First grade worked on a fun STEM activity today! They studied chemical change using skittles and water. (The skittles weren’t so appetizing after the chemical change 😂).
November STEM in 4th grade! Using candy corn to represent Native Americans and supplies, we built canoes to float down the Providence River to prepare for the 1st Thanksgiving 🦃 🛶

It was a “sweet” day for 5th and 6th grades today! They visited Fascia’s Chocolates in Waterbury. They learned about the chocolate making process and even and made their own chocolate candy! Fr. Jeff even joined in the fun! 🍫🍫🍫
4th grade had a fantastic visit from the #ctsciencecenter this morning! They performed a lab called “Choose your Chompers”, where they engineered, built, and experimented different teeth models needed for different kind of foods. What kind of teeth does a carnivore need? What about an omnivore? We’re experts now thanks to the Science in Motion Traveling Program! 🦷 🧬

How high a tower can you build with 100 pencils, 10 rubber bands, and 8 minutes? 4th grade had a great time with their 1st STEM project of the year. Each team engineered 4 towers and had 8 minutes for each tower. They came up with some great ideas!! We can’t wait for October’s STEM project!
